Hello Anti-F*ckers! 🎉
Among several exciting bits of news—some yet to be revealed—Anti-Karaoke Barcelona is moving to Diobar, located in Barcelona's Born neighborhood.
The reason is due to a sudden change in schedule at Club Sauvage. In July, management informed me that the club's new owners had decided to change the concert schedule so that everyone would have to finish by 11:30 p.m. at the latest. We had no say in the matter; it was an executive decision, take it or leave it.
So we left it. We are thankful to Club Sauvage for the marvelous year we were able to spend there.
The reason is obvious: ending a half-hour earlier is not an option. The A.K. needs three hours to satisfy the needs of the audience; even with three hours, we have to impose a time limit on requests, and even with that time limit, there's often a handful of people for whom the time runs out to sing. Therefore, shortening the A.K. by half an hour would be catastrophic. So I've been looking for a new basement asylum, well located, with equal or better conditions than Sauvage... and I luckily found it in the nearby Born neighborhood: Diobar.
Of course, the folks from Diobar already knew the legendary Anti-Karaoke; they'd of course come to an A.K. back in the day and were delighted to welcome us to their beautiful room. I really like it; besides physically qualifying as another manicomio en el sótano, it's decorated in a very creative, cute and kitschy way, with tons of personality. There's a sofa and even an antique-looking video game.
DIOBAR is on the corner of the Barcelona Zoo (very appropriate, in my opinion) and the Estacion de Francia train station, as well as right next to the Magic rock club.
And... And! A few more things:
1. Diobar is in the basement of the Greek restaurant Dionisus, which offers good quality food at affordable prices. It'l be super convenient to grab something tasty there before, during, or even after the show... since the restaurant doesn't close until 1:00 AM!
Of course, there are plenty of other dining options nearby as well.
2. The stage is a little higher than at Sauvage, which will give the performances more impact. And the ceiling is much higher -- very high, which gives a feeling of space and comfort yet doesn't feel cold.
3. The ticket price is the same - €15 in advance, €18 at the box office - but fee on the advance ticket is about a euro cheaper than in Sauvage, for a total of €15.79.

Entre varias noticias excitantes - algunas aún para revelar - el Anti-Karaoke Barcelona se muda a Diobar, localizado en el barrio del Born de Barcelona.
El motivo es por el cambio repentino de horarios del Club Sauvage. En julio, la gestión me informó que los nuevos propietarios de la sala habían decidido cambiar el horario de los conciertos para que todos acabaran a las 23:30h. como muy tarde. No tuvimos voz ni voto en el asunto; fue una decisión ejecutiva: lo tomas o lo dejas.
Así que lo dejamos. Agradecemos al Club Sauvage por el maravilloso año que pudimos pasar allí.
La razón es obvia: terminar media hora antes no es una opción. El Anti necesita tres horas para satisfacer las necesidades del público; incluso con tres horas, tenemos que imponer un límite de tiempo a las solicitudes, e incluso con ese límite, a menudo hay un puñado de personas a quienes se les acaba el tiempo para cantar. Por lo tanto, acortar el Anti media hora sería catastrófico. Así que he estado buscando un nuevo manicomio en el sótano: bien ubicado, con condiciones iguales o mejores que las de Sauvage... y por suerte lo encontré en el cercano barrio del Born: en el Diobar.
Por supuesto la gente que lleva el Diobar ya conocía el legendario Anti-Karaoke; por supuesto habían asistido en los viejos tiempos, y estaban deleitados de danos el bienvenido a su bonita sala. De verdad, la sala me encanta; además de cumplir la condición de ser otro sótano manicomiático, está decorado de una manera muy creativa, divertida y kitschy, con mucha personalidad, Hay un sofá en el fondo y un videojuego antiguo...
DIOBAR está en la esquina donde se encuentra el Zoo de Barcelona (muy apto, en mi opinión😄) y la Estación de Francia, justo al lado de la sala Magic. O sea, sigue siendo una localización céntrica.
Y... ¡Y! Unas cosas más:
1. El Diobar está en el sótano del restaurante griego Dionisus, de calidad bastante buena y precios asequibles. Será súper conveniente tomar algo sabroso allí antes, durante o incluso después del show, ya que no cierra hasta la 1h.!
Por supuesto, también hay muchas otras opciones para cenar cerca.
2. El escenario está un poco más elevado que en Sauvage, lo cual dará un toque más impactante a los performances. Y el techo es mucho más elevado, es altísimo, que da una sensación de espacio y comodidad sin sentir frío.
3. La entrada es la misma - 15€ anticipada, 18€ en taquilla - pero la anticipada sale un euro más barata de gastos que anteriormente, por 15,79€ en total.
